WARRANT OFFICER INFORMATION
Warrant Officers are the technical experts in specific military fields. They are often relied upon by the Commissioned Officers and Enlisted Soldiers of the unit for their guidance and training ability.
Warrant Officers follow a single-specialty focus that
allows them to progress in their chosen career track rather than a broader scope like the Commissioned Officers of the Army.
Some of the benefits of being a Warrant Officer include an increased pay scale, increased retirement benefits, and potential Accession and Retention incentives that Officers only can qualify for.
Fields that have career specialties for Warrant Officers include Human Resources, Information Technology, Aviation, Intelligence, Field Artillery, Electronics, Maintenance, and Logistics.
As with becoming a Commissioned Officer, potential Warrant Officer Soldiers have to go through specialized courses to
prepare them for the rigors of being a subject matter expert and professional Soldier.
The first step is to attend Warrant
Officer Candidate School (WOCS). Then within two years of finishing (WOCS), the next step is to attend Warrant Officer
Basic Course. These two courses will have you
well on your way to becoming an elite member of the Army National
Guard.
The basic requirements that must be met to become a Warrant Officer in the Montana Army National Guard are:
- Currently between 18 and 46 years of age
- Score of 110 or higher on the General Technical Area of the ASVAB Test
- Be a high school grad or pass the GED
- Be a US citizen by birth or naturalization
- Successfully pass all events on the Army Physical Fitness Test
- Meet certain qualifications in the chosen career path selected
on careers as a Warrant Officer.
